We are a consultant led, high quality hair transplant clinic

Hair loss is a common condition encountered by many people by the time they enter their third decade of life. If no appropriate treatment is undertaken, the condition progresses rapidly and leads to severe hair loss. There are different modalities to manage hair loss, this includes medical treatment (medicines), Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection and hair transplant; however, hair transplantation has proved to be the most effective and the gold standard treatment for severe hair loss with long lasting results. Hair Transplantation, as the name suggests, is a treatment where hair follicles are transferred from one part of the body (usually scalp) to the affected areas in order to cover the bald area. This method has been proven to be the most effective treatment for hair loss. It is like a long lasting investment and leads to significant cosmetic benefits. London Hair Transplant Clinic is one of the leading clinics in the UK that offers high quality Hair Transplant treatment. The transplant and hair restoration treatment is conducted using Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technology. In the procedure, it takes 2-3 hours to harvest the grafts from the scalp (mostly back of the head) and it takes several more hours to prepare the recipient area and place the grafts at the desired locations. Dr Maziar Sadri who also works at the NHS as a senior doctor (consultant), leads the hair transplant services at London Hair Transplant Clinic.

Apart from the hair transplant and restoration services, we provide other services at the clinic which are comprised of: :

  • PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injection, utilised for mild hair loss and improvement of facial wrinkles
  • Botox Treatment for face and neck
  • Lip Augmentation
  • Dermal Fillers
  • Eyebrow Lifting and Restoration using the FUE eyebrow transplant
  • Facial Hair Transplant

How much does a hair transplant cost?

Bear in mind that hair transplants require highly skilled staff as well as time, not rushing to get the next patient in. That’s why we only perform one major hair transplant procedure per day. Costs and prices for hair transplant procedures depend heavily on your level of hair loss, your aspirations and the chosen method of hair transplant surgery. The only sure way to be more precise on the number of grafts required and the cost, is through a private consultation with one of our surgeons. We always endeavour to provide the best hair transplant price in the UK as well as the best hair transplant but inevitably, costs tend to rise with quality. The hair transplant results are more important than cost and you shouldn’t be swayed by salesmen who promise a discount “if you book today” or ring repeatedly every week.

We’re already “30%” less than those clinics who have to entice you with discounts to pay for their sales staff as we don’t have salespeople on commission!

However, it’s fair to say that you wouldn’t want us to cut corners on the quality of your hair transplant, so we are not embarrassed to say we aren’t the cheapest hair transplant clinic in London, or a cheap hair transplant in the UK, but offer a high quality service and hair transplant result. A cheap hair transplant can be very costly in terms of repair work and worry and lowered self esteem – just look at the problems associated with the cheap hair transplant

How many Hair Transplant grafts or sessions will I need?

Most patients will need two or more sessions of hair transplantation. However to give a general approximation on the graft requirement and so the likely cost per session, the diagram shows an indicative number of grafts to give a reasonable density of hair over the associated area.

Patients may require more or fewer grafts than indicated to achieve a desired density; this can be confirmed at the time of consultation. Also, most patients will want a second session per area, to achieve the density they are looking for. It’s also a good idea to set a priority area – there is a limited number of donor grafts available and simply saying that “everything is a priority” isn’t helpful! Generally, the frontal region is the most important – it’s what you see in the mirror and what people see when talking to you. The crown is less obvious.

Note that we charge the same whether it is the FUE or FUT (strip) hair transplant cost.

Lastly, whether these numbers of grafts are achievable, depends solely on the quality of the patients’ donor area and this does differ from patient to patient. You cannot “think of a number” and double it!

The Process

Are you considering a hair transplant in London? At the Farjo Hair Institute, we don’t just treat your condition, we treat you as an individual. We want to get to know you, your situation, and what you want to achieve from undergoing treatment. From the consultation, right through to aftercare, we will guide you through the options that are best suited to your individual needs.

1 – Enquire

All patients can enquire via email, telephone, website form, chatbot, or social media. The first step in the process is to have a chat with the Patient Manager to validate if we can indeed treat you. You will be asked to provide photos or videos of your hair/hairline before progressing to the next step of the process. This is a free service we provide to ensure patients are genuine and treatable.

2 – Consultation

You can choose to arrange a free consultation with a patient manager, or for a small fee, you can have a consultation with a doctor. This part of the process is now virtual. This is less intimidating for patients and allows the clinic to be covid-19 secure with fewer patients in and out. Sometimes, a consultation at our state-of-the-art Harley Street clinic may be required if the virtual consultation is inconclusive e.g. we cannot assess the condition of the scalp or confirm the quality of the donor area. You can book a consultation here.

3 – Options

Following your consultation, we will provide you with best options that would be suited to you, if indeed any treatment is suitable. Our London Harley Street clinic is equipped to perform all types of treatment, from surgical treatments such as FUE and FUT, to a wide range of non-surgical treatments such as Low Level Laser Therapy and Scalp MicroPigmentation (SMP).

4 – Preparation

Once you have decided on a treatment, we will guide you on how to prepare. Our expert London-based patient care team will stay in touch with you at every step of the process to ensure you are always up to date.

5 – Treatment

All our treatments and surgeries are carried out at our London clinic, based on Harley Street in Marylebone. On the day of the treatment, you can rest easy knowing you are in good hands, with elite, award winning and world renowned surgeons, who will carry out your treatment personally.

6 – Aftercare

Following your treatment from our London clinic, we will provide you with all the relevant information you need, as well as perform regular reviews to check on the progress of your treatment. Don’t feel like you are unable to contact us following your treatment, if you have any questions or concerns, you can always contact us for help and support.

What is a hair transplant?

A hair transplant is a procedure in which a plastic or dermatological surgeon moves hair to a bald area of the head. The surgeon usually moves hair from the back or side of the head to the front or top of the head.

Hair transplants typically occur in a medical office under local anesthesia.

Pattern baldness is responsible for the majority of hair loss. This comes down to genetics. The remaining cases are due to a variety of factors, including:

  • diet
  • stress
  • illness
  • hormonal imbalance
  • medications
Are there different types of hair transplants?

There are two types of transplant procedures: slit grafts and micrografts.

Slit grafts contain 4 to 10 hairs per graft. Micrografts contain 1 to 2 hairs per graft, depending on the amount of coverage needed.

Who might benefit from a hair transplant?

Receiving a hair transplant can improve your appearance and self-confidence. Good candidates for a hair transplant include:

  • men with male pattern baldness
  • women with thinning hair
  • anyone who has lost some hair from a burn or scalp injury

Hair replacement isn’t a good option for:

  • women with a widespread pattern of hair loss throughout the scalp
  • people who don’t have enough “donor” hair sites from which to remove hair for transplant
  • people who form keloid scars (thick, fibrous scars) after injury or surgery
  • people whose hair loss is due to medication such as chemotherapy
What happens during a hair transplant?

After thoroughly cleaning your scalp, a surgeon uses a small needle to numb an area of your head with local anesthesia.

Two main techniques are used to obtain follicles for transplantation: FUT and FUE.

In follicular unit transplantation (FUT):

  1. The surgeon will use a scalpel to cut out a strip of scalp skin from the back of the head. The incision is typically several inches long.
  2. This is then closed with stitches.
  3. The surgeon next separates the removed portion of scalp into small sections using a magnifying lens and sharp surgical knife. When implanted, these sections will help achieve natural-looking hair growth.

In follicular unit extraction (FUE) the hair follicles are cut out directly from the back of the head through hundreds to thousands of tiny punch incisions.

  1. The surgeon makes tiny holes with a blade or needle in the area of your scalp that’s receiving the hair transplant. They gently place hairs in these holes.
  2. During one treatment session, a surgeon may transplant hundreds or even thousands of hairs.
  3. After, the graft, gauze, or bandages will cover your scalp for a few days.

A hair transplant session can take four hours or more. Your stitches will be removed about 10 days after surgery.

You may require up to three or four sessions to achieve the full head of hair you desire. Sessions occur several months apart to allow each transplant to fully heal.

What happens after a hair transplant?

Your scalp may be sore, and you may need to take medications following hair transplant surgery, such as:

  • pain medication
  • antibiotics to reduce your risk of infection
  • anti-inflammatory medications to keep swelling down

Most people can return to work several days after surgery.

It’s normal for the transplanted hair to fall out two to three weeks after the procedure. This makes way for new hair growth. Most people will see some amount of new hair growth 8 to 12 months after surgery.

Many doctors prescribe minoxidil (Rogaine) or the hair growth medication finasteride (Propecia) to improve hair regrowth. These medications also help slow or stop future hair loss.

What are the complications associated with a hair transplant?

Side effects from a hair transplant are usually minor and clear up within a few weeks.

They can include:

  • bleeding
  • infection
  • swelling of the scalp
  • bruising around the eyes
  • a crust that forms on the areas of the scalp where hair was removed or implanted
  • numbness or lack of sensation on the treated areas of the scalp
  • itching
  • inflammation or infection of the hair follicles, which is known as folliculitis
  • shock loss, or sudden but typically temporary loss of the transplanted hair
  • unnatural-looking tufts of hair
What is the long-term outlook?

Typically, people who’ve had a hair transplant will continue to grow hair in the transplanted areas of the scalp.

The new hair may appear more or less dense depending on:

  • scalp laxity, or how loose your scalp skin is
  • density of follicles in the transplanted zone
  • hair caliber or quality
  • hair curl

If you don’t take medication (such as minoxidil or finasteride) or undergo a low level of laser therapy, you may continue to experience hair loss in nontreated areas of your scalp.
